Before posting photos of our April Sale I wanted to share my latest personal home project! My husband, "Bob the Plumber" surprised me about a month ago by installing a beautiful Waterfall wood dresser (I had found) and a new vessal sink he scored at a wholesaler in our main floor bathroom. Well that meant the start to a complete bathroom makeover: paint, new curtains the hole nine yards! Go Big or Go home is my personal mantra when it comes to home decor. Well, I got inspired from our March Sale: "Mirror Mirror on the Wall"!! I just couldn't help myself, we had SO many great mirrors! I snagged up all the vintage vanity tray mirrors...those darling oval or round ones with the ornate metal trim and velvet back that normally sit on a vanity with cute bottles or purfume etc. Well I had a plan to create a grouping of mirrors around this new vanity.
Here is my stash I purchased at Louise's along with one from down in Zimmerman at Ramshackled Treasures (thanks ladies) along with a few other mirrors I have had for years. A little Old with a little New and Wa-La the start to a fun project.
Step 1: I made templates of the mirrors so I could play around with a
design before hammering nails into the freshly painted walls.
Step 2: I turned over the mirror, line up the template on top of the upside down mirror and marked where the hangers/holes are on the template, then taped the template to the wall. I did this so I knew where to hammer the nails once I found a pattern I liked. You will understand once you look at these three photos.
And here it is!!!
Step 4: Added all the fun goodies I have collected to make this space totally unique and totally me!
(My hubby and son have a bathroom in the basement so this IS the GIRL'S"
bathroom (for my daughter Madalynn and I) complete with a "girl" decal on the door :)
A grouping of glass jars (one full of Pretty Dittys from Louise's), pearls that once belonged to Louise on a crisp white soap dish all in a wonderful two-toned leather tray given to us from my mother-in-law Barb!
A standing mirror from a vacation my parents took back when I was in my teens, a beautiful frame I received from my girlfriend Bridget that holds our family photo, a light from my Mama Carol and a darling floral saucer used as a soap dish!
I will leave you with a tip: a mirror or picture frame on your vanity makes a great cover up to those ugly outlets and cords. As seen above (use a power strip and have all your hair electronics plugged in (with the strip turned off) in a basket on the side of your vanity then switch on when you are all set to do your hair = Eco friendly meets organized!
